Meet Dr. Marc Gainor

Dr. Marc Gainor has been in the private practice of dentistry for 33 years. Dr. Gainor graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977 and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University Of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1981. He then completed a post graduate General Practice Residency in Dentistry at Maimonides Medical Center in 1982.
Dr. Gainor is strongly committed to continuing education. He has completed the prestigious Pankey Institute restorative continuum, the Spear Institute mastery continuum and has taken advanced coursework at the Dawson Academy, and the Strupp Postgraduate School of Dentistry. In 1987 he became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry: this recognition represents over 500 hours of post-doctoral education as well as successful completion of a written exam given by the Academy. In 2006 he was awarded the title of Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, the highest distinction conferred by the Academy. Less than 2% of all dentists nationwide have achieved this honor. Dr. Gainor has completed over 2400 hours of continuing education since completing his residency.
Dr. Gainor is very involved in organized dentistry and loves teaching. He has been appointed a Visiting Faculty member at the Spear Institute at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry, and he travels several times each year to Arizona to help teach other dentists advanced concepts of restorative dentistry. Dr. Gainor has presented numerous educational programs on occlusion (bite), TMJ dysfunction and orthodontics to his colleagues at local dental societies. He is currently General Chairman of the Greater New York Dental Meeting the largest Dental Convention/Exposition in the United States. He served on the Board of Trustees of the New York State Academy of General Dentistry and also served as Secretary of the New York County Dental Society. He is the Immediate Past President of the New England Masters Study Club and is the Co-Director of the Rockefeller Center Study Group. Dr. Gainor has been on the Board of Directors of the New York County Dental Society, was formerly editor-in-chief of the Penn Dental Journal, and was appointed Clinical Instructor at both the University of Pennsylvania and New York University. He was recently honored with the Academy of General Dentistry Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition award and has received honorary Fellowships in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists for his leadership and service to the profession.
